Music is the one artform where people feel comfortable coming out.

Gay Men's Chorus of South Florida members are joined by our shared love of music and belief that we can change the world, one song at a time. GMCSF holds auditions multiple times each season. The group does not require that members identify as gay, bisexual, or male. The eligibility requirements are to be at least 18 years of age and not in high school. We welcome all singers who can sing in the lower vocal registers (Tenor 1, Tenor 2, Baritone, and Bass) to try out and pass the audition process defined by the Artistic Director. 

What to expect at the audition: Upon arrival, a chorus member will greet you and assist you in filling out some paperwork. The actual audition will consist of two parts. The first part of the singing auditions - sing a song of your choice. You may pick anything from the National Anthem to your favorite Broadway song. You may sing a cappella or with a recorded track. You will also sing some vocal scales so that the artistic director can determine your voice part. There is no need to be nervous, as no other candidates are in the room while you perform. The second part is a brief interview with several chorus leaders to help you understand what a part of the chorus entails. We will notify you of the outcome. Because GMCSF strives for excellence, a singing member's acceptance is determined by an audition. We understand that the idea of an audition might be intimidating. Therefore, we make the audition process as informal and friendly as possible.

The commitment: Joining GMCSF involves a serious commitment of energy and time. Membership dues are $80 per concert cycle or $210 for the entire season. Scholarships are available. We have three concert cycles each season. The usual rehearsal schedules are Tuesdays from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM at Sunshine Cathedral Center for the Performing Arts. There is a 75% rehearsal attendance requirement for members.
