From the Artistic Director Gabe Salazar

This year's Pride concert, entitled Invincible, is an evening of music that not only pays tribute to the 10th annual remembrance of the Pulse shootings but also is an affirmation of the LGBTQ+ community's ability to rise above hate and move forward with love and joy. The idea for this kind of collaboration took root at the 2024 GALA Choruses Festival in Minneapolis, where witnessing hundreds of LGBTQ+ voices singing as one reminded me of what is possible when our community comes together. That inspiration led directly to The Rainbow Connection last June - the first time the three GALA Choruses of Florida united on one stage. Invincible is the next step, expanded in scope and deepened in purpose. The tenth annual remembrance of Pulse is a chance to ask ourselves what we have learned, how we have healed, and what we still owe to those we lost. When I approached composer Saunder Choi, I wanted music that carried grief with tenderness and transformed it into something luminous.

About the Pride Concert

Gay Men's Chorus of South Florida will present Invincible, a landmark Pride concert marking the 10th annual remembrance of the Pulse Nightclub tragedy. Emerging from tragedy to triumph is a defining truth of the LGBTQ+ community, and this powerful evening centers remembrance, resilience, and unity. Coinciding with Juneteenth, the program also celebrates ongoing fights for freedom and equality, fostering community solidarity. Featuring over 200 voices, Invincible aims to inspire and bring together supporters and allies alike.

Invincible also celebrates our survival and undeniable joy. Generations of LGBTQ+ people faced discrimination and still chose to live openly. We continue to love boldly and build a vibrant community together. Powerful anthems of empowerment and unity lift this concert into a beautiful declaration of Pride. Our music reminds the world that our voices cannot be silenced. The second half of Invincible rises into a celebration of strength and joy, featuring anthems like Katy Perry's "Roar," "Stand Up," and "Lift Every Voice and Sing," that speak directly to the resilience of the LGBTQ+ community. Anchored by the concert's title song, "Invincible," made famous by Kelly Clarkson, this powerful set reminds audiences that our community has faced hatred, fought for equality, and emerged stronger.

It is their vibrant lives that I remember and honor, knowing that today is better than 10 years ago, and tomorrow will be better than today. That love triumphs over hate.
